EXTREME SPORTS CRAZE HITS THE FAIR WITH MAXIMUM VELOCITY
Maximum Velocity, a popular bicycle, skateboard and in-line stunt team, will give daily shows in the All New Extreme Zone at the Miami-Dade County Fair, starting March 13. The team will use a show outline that allows performers to choose the stunts aimed to delight the public with a full non-stop, action-packed experience.
Maximum Velocity was founded in 1995 by M. Geoffrey Carlton II and Josh Heino, one of the world's leading bicycle freestylists. The team, featuring experienced athletes that have participated in contests throughout the United States and abroad, have performed in an impressive number of state fairs, car shows and festivals. Through their amazing stunts, the athletes strive to take their personal experience straight to the fans, by re-creating the mind-bending energy for the fans that they feel while performing.
"We crave speed, altitude and the adrenaline rush that hits us when we're 20-25 feet in the air — limbs dangling — on a bike", says one of the team's members. "We're mastering all the tricks of the trade: 540's, tail whips, ice picks, toothpicks and other mind-bending, skull-popping feats. And, if that's not enough, you can witness the same type of joint-wrenching, bone-jarring wizardry you see in the movies. It's high-speed action interlaced with breathtaking stunts, bellyaching comedy, unprecedented acrobatics and lots of fun."
Started in California more than 30 years ago, Freestyle bicycle has been rapidly adopted by teens and became a popular challenge in schoolyards across the United States. By the mid ‘80s the sport reached a prominent place in the world of Extreme Sports, with performers vying for the top ranking Flatland, Street and Ramp Riding competitions.
Maximum Velocity will present daily weekdays shows, starting at 4.30, 6.30 and 8.30 p.m. In weekends, the team will present four shows, starting at 2.30, 4.30, 6.30 and 8.30 p.m. An extra show will be presented on Friday, March 28, starting 2.30 p.m.
